Your application

Prepare your application with care

Organize the next step without sharing more personal information than the process requires.

Start with the search details

To help narrow the options, our team needs your budget, move date, preferred areas and practical requirements. This is separate from a landlord’s application review.

  • Keep your requirements clear and distinguish essentials from preferences.
  • Do not put a social insurance number, identity-document copies or bank details in the search form.
02

Know what a request is for

TAL guidance says personal information collected for an application must be necessary. A credit check requires your consent. Ask why information is needed and how it will be handled.

  • Have relevant previous-landlord contact details or a reference available if appropriate.
  • If you do not have a local rental history, ask what appropriate alternatives can be considered.
03

Keep the next step explicit

Your broker helps explain what is being requested. An enquiry, a shortlist or a visit is not an approval to rent.

  • Read any application or promise carefully before signing and ask about its conditions.
  • Confirm who receives any documents and use the agreed secure process.
  • Keep a copy of what you submit and of any written response.
